AUTOMATIC UPDATES OF SIGNAGE DEVICES NEED TO BE DISABLED DUE TO CONCERNS FOR INCOMPATIBILITY OF THE NEW DRIVERS. THIS CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED BY THE FOLLOWING
STEPS:
1. Step 1 is to make sure both display and audio drivers are updated to the version you wish to keep on using. Make sure everything works as desired before continuing to step 2.
2. Enter the device manager and identify the hardware-id’s of the Intel graphic and Intel sound devices of the computer. The devices will only show if you have connected a HDMI display with build-in speakers. It looks like this on a Danish Windows 10 IOT:
a. This is the Intel HD graphics chip:
b. This is the Intel sound for the monitor:
3.Copy the values from Intel HD graphic and Intel sound into a notepad file for temporary keeping.
4. Open the policy editor by pressing the Windows key and writing GPEDIT.MSC followed by the ENTER-key. Should look like this:
5. In a Danish version of Windows 10 IOT choose: ”Computerkonfiguration> Administrative skabeloner > System > Installation af enhed > Begrænsning for installation af enhed”. Double click on ”Forbyd installation af enheder, der svarer til et af disse enheds-ID’er”
6. In the below dialog choose ”Aktiveret” followed by “Vis…” in the square box. Copy/paste the values from the Notepad document one by one. One per line. Press “OK” to save
7. Close the policy editor. Now the computer is protected against unintentional automatic or manual future updates of the display and sound drivers.
